Suzanne Vinnik

Praised by the The New York Times as a "voice notable for its  dramatic nuance" and described by Opera News as "Refreshing...[With] beautifully molded, vividly communicative phrasing” Suzanne Vinnik has captivated audience across the globe and has been recognized beyond music as an interdisciplinary artist and serial entrepreneur as a successful fashion designer, published photographer and prominent classical singer.

Known for her unforgettable stage presence and remarkable voice, Suzanne Vinnik has performed many of opera’s greatest heroines including Violetta in La traviata, Musetta and Mimi in La boheme, Leïla in Les Pêcheurs de Perles, Nedda in I Pagliacci, Micaela in Carmen, and the title role in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut amongst others at companies such as Florida Grand Opera, Dallas Opera, Pittsburgh Opera and The Castleton Festival under the baton of the late Maestro Lorin Maazel.

Favorite international appearances included a tour throughout Russia sponsored by The US State Department at The Stanislavsky Theater under the baton of Maestro Constantine Orbelian, in a private concert at the SPASO House for the Ambassador in Moscow accompanied by the former Metropolitan Opera Head of Music Craig Rutenberg and onstage at The Saratov Opera & Ballet. She was invited to perform in Norway on multiple invitations before Queen Sonja at the Norwegian Opera & Ballet, as a “Star of the Future” at the Kirsten Flagstad Festival and with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra (NRK). In Italy she appeared as featured soloist in numerous concerts presented by Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia and on RAI in a documentary with Renata Scotto coaching a scene from Puccini’s La boheme. Her voice and original song can be heard on the motion picture soundtrack “Shadow of the Sword” with the Prague Philharmonia starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

Other notable concert highlights include LoftOpera’s Verdi Concerts, alongside the late tenor Marcello Giordani in Vero Beach, The Smith Center for the Performing Arts with Las Vegas Academy Symphony as a distinguished alumni and as a Guest Artist with Las Vegas Philharmonic in their opening night gala entitled “Operatic Love”, Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 throughout Oregon with Rogue Valley Symphony, “Auld Lang Syne III” and the Jackie Evancho concert with Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra and appearances with Henderson Symphony, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Westfield Symphony Orchestra, Ocean City Pops, Umbria Jazz Festival, and as a soloist at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. As a recitalist she has been presented by Sun Valley Opera, Pittsburgh Opera Guild, the Red Scarf Society in Northern California and the Hoku Concert Series in Hawaii.

Ms. Vinnik is a recipient of the Georg Solti Foundation Grant, the Olga Forrai Foundation Grant, and the Sullivan Foundation Career Development Award. She was a major prize winner in the Opera Index Inc. and the first prize winner in the New Jersey Verismo Opera Competition and is the only two-time first prize winner of the American Prize for Opera for two consecutive years. She received second prize in the Gerda Lissner International Competition, third prizes from Liederkranz Foundation and Mildred Miller International Voice Competition, Audience Favorite & Fourth Prize from Palm Beach Opera and was an international finalist and award winner in the Queen Sonja International Music Competition. Other accolades include George London Foundation Encouragement Award, numerous prizes from the Marcello Giordani Foundation and various grants from The Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation, Giulio Gari Foundation, New York Foundation for the Arts and Nevada Arts Council. 

In May 2019, she launched her luxury clothing label “byVINNIK” both designed and ethically manufactured in Los Angeles which has gone onto be a runaway success. Her designs have been worn by some of the biggest names in TV/Film, Fashion, Broadway, Classical Music and and were recently featured on Disney+ “This Is Me” Pride Celebration on Alex Newell, RuPaul’s Drag Race guest judge Dulcé Sloan and will appear prominently on season 2 of HBO’s hit TV series The White Lotus in addition to several magazine features. Prior to launching her line, she created the largest social media community of women in Opera which stood at over 11K members and co-founded a multi-vendor platform that generated over $400K in sales for artist owned businesses in just over a year. She has mentored and collaborated with numerous small businesses and continues to be a tireless advocate for the arts working with organizations like Sing For Hope.

Ms. Vinnik is an alumnus of Opera Studio di Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Italy where she studied and performed under the tutelage of Renata Scotto and The Dallas Opera’s Hart Institute for Women Conductors where she was an Administration Fellow. She holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance from Texas Christian University with additional studies at Mannes College of Music and Otis College of Design.
